The Party Secretary of Xiamen University, Zhang Yan led a delegation for a courtesy call to MCBC Chairman YB Tan to discuss on the development of Xiamen University Malaysia Campus (XMUM).
YB Tan expressed that XMUM is symbolic of people-to-people connectivity project. Malaysia has been supportive on the Belt and Road initiative and he believed that XMUM will play a role in the future in respective of BRI.
Zhang Yan expressed that XMUM project is a continuous of the spirit of Mr. Tan Kah Kee, the founder of Xiamen University, and symbol of cultural and education cooperation between Malaysia and China. He further noted that XMUM using English medium but with Chinese cultural element, this should attract international students apart from Malaysia and Chinese students.
