Condolence Message from Tiong King Sing to the People’s Republic of China (PRC), H.E. President Xi Jinping
on the Passing of the Former General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and President of China, Mr Jiang Zeming
On behalf of all my colleagues in the Malaysia-China Business Council, I convey my deepest condolences to His Excellency Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the CPC, the CPC Central Committee, the government and people of PRC, and the family of the late Mr Jiang Zemin, on the sad news of his passing on Wednesday (30 November 2022).
Jiang Zemin was an outstanding statesman and leader who contributed greatly to the establishment of diplomatic relations between Malaysia and China, which led to the continual stability and healthy development of relations between the two countries to date.
Since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Malaysia and China in 1974, relations between the two counties have expanded and increased cordially, bearing positive fruitful results in many cooperation and exchanges across various fields. In 1994, on the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Malaysia and China, Jiang Zemin led a large delegation of 118 on a state visit to Malaysia, which laid a strong foundation for the advancement of relations between our two countries.
During his tenure as the President of China, Jiang Zemin, built upon the solid foundation Malaysia-China bilateral relations, continued to enhance mutual understanding, and deepen friendship between our countries on the international stage through many exchanges with our leaders, to promote mutually beneficial cooperation, playing a key role in bringing closer and more cordial bilateral relations between our two countries.
Mr Tiong King Sing has recognised the significant contribution of Jiang Zemin to China’s reformation and development. We sincerely hope that the CPC, the government, and the people of China will overcome their bereavement over the loss of their illustrious leader and that under the leadership of General Secretary Xi Jinping, to achieve the goal of socialist modernisation and continue to attain greater accomplishments.
As we warmly remember the distinguished statesman, Jiang Zemin, we also hope that we will build upon the foundation laid by our forefathers and continue to strengthen the long-lasting ties between Malaysia and China.
