MCBC Leads Strategic Malaysia-China Engagements in Beijing, Concludes 17th Annual Joint Business Council Meeting During the Third China International Supply Chain Expo

The Malaysia-China Business Council (MCBC), under the leadership of MCBC Chairman, YB Senator Tan Sri Dato’ Low Kian Chuan, successfully led a strategic delegation to Beijing from 15 to 19 July 2025, reaffirming its role as a key driver of Malaysia-China economic relations. The centrepiece of the mission was the 17th Annual Meeting of the Malaysia-China Joint Business Council, held on 18 July in conjunction with the 3rd China International Supply Chain Expo (CISCE).

Co-organised by MCBC and the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), The meeting convened Malaysian business leaders and key Chinese stakeholders to chart the next chapter of bilateral economic cooperation. The session was officiated by CCPIT President Mr. Ren Hongbin and MCBC Chairman YB Senator Tan Sri Dato’ Low Kian Chuan, both of whom delivered keynote remarks.

As the principal Malaysian coordinator of the Joint Business Council, MCBC emphasized

the growing strategic relevance of Malaysia-China cooperation amid global uncertainties and rising protectionism. Tan Sri Low highlighted Malaysia’s welcoming stance toward Chinese investment in landmark projects such as the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) and the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone. He stressed MCBC’s continued commitment to promoting resilient, sustainable, and inclusive regional supply chains.

During the meeting, Malaysian and Chinese enterprises held deep-dive discussions on trade, investment, green transition, and digital cooperation. A renewed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between MCBC and CCPIT to institutionalise their long-standing partnership. The meeting concluded with targeted B2B engagements facilitated by MCBC to match Malaysian strengths with Chinese opportunities.

As part of the broader programme, MCBC co-organised the Seminar on Risk and Dispute

Prevention Mechanisms in Global Industrial Chains with the International Commercial Dispute Prevention and Settlement Organization (ICDPASO) and the Asian Institute of Alternative Dispute Resolution (AIADR). The seminar underscored MCBC’s role in championing efficient legal frameworks to enhance business confidence across borders. In parallel, MCBC also actively represented Malaysia at the China-ASEAN Supply Chain Cooperation Thematic Seminar, where it reaffirmed Malaysia’s readiness to contribute to the region’s supply chain integration and resilience.

The delegation, led by MCBC, also conducted high-level corporate visits to several of

China’s most innovative enterprises. These included Xiaomi EV Hyperfactory, Huawei and China Energy International Group (CEIG)— offering Malaysian delegates valuable insights into cutting-edge technologies in electric mobility, telecommunications, green energy, and consumer innovation. These engagements supported MCBC’s strategic objective of linking Malaysian industries with top-tier Chinese players to explore partnerships in sustainability, digitalisation, and smart manufacturing.
