28.1.2019: MCBC Chairman YB Tan Kok Wai paid a courtesy call to Chairman of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, H.E. Chen Wu in Nanning to discuss generally on enhancing the trade and investment, in particular the Twin Industrial Parks project.
YB Tan expressed that the long cultural connection between the two countries will accelerate the mutual trade and the Twin Industrial Parks can symbolize the Belt and Road Initiative project. Both countries can explore many more areas of cooperation of investment such as the halal products, E&E, automobile industries that will have potential to enhance the Twin Industrial Parks project.
H.E. Chen Wu expressed that Guangxi possesses several advantages such as being the only western province of China with link to sea route. It is also the only Chinese province neighbouring ASEAN countries. The transportation network from western China connecting Xinjiang, Gansu, Sichuan through the Southern Transport Corridor will lead Guangxi as the exit point to South China Sea. Given this unique position, Malaysia can ride on CMQIP to enhance the cooperation on Belt and Road initiative that contributing to the further bilateral relationship of Malaysia and China.
