2nd Belt and Road Chambers of Commerce and Associations Summit

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the “2nd Belt and Road Chambers of Commerce and Associations Summit” organised by the Federation of Malaysia Chinese Commerce Association (FEMACCA), YB Dato’ Sri Tiong King Sing, Chairman of the Malaysia-China Business Council (MCBC), was represented by Datuk Alvin Tee Guan Pin, Director of MCBC, stated that Malaysia and China will be celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Malaysia-China Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in the coming year, which will play a key role for Malaysia and China amid the current international geopolitical climate. The Chairman has emphasised the continual investment between Malaysia and China in ground-breaking cooperation through active dialogue and communication between the leaders of the two countries.

Furthermore, the Chairman has called on Malaysian Chinese businessmen to be well-prepared for the upcoming innovative areas, such as renewable energy, high technology, smart agriculture, digital economy, and green economy, to capitalise on the prosperity and success of both countries in the coming years. Datuk Alvin Tee has shared that the first nine months of bilateral trade between Malaysia and China in 2022 has hit a record of RM360.56 billion, an increase of 18.5 per cent compared to 2021.

“I am confident that the Malaysia-China trade performance will continue to rise in the last quarter of the year and certain that China will continue to become Malaysia’s largest trading partner for the 14th consecutive year.”
